Samantha Page Counseling is a private mental health service in Valencia, Spain, offering individual, couple, and family sessions in English.

Therapeutic approach

I use an approach that is strongly informed by systemic theories, which remind us that we do not act or respond in a vacuum.

Systemic therapy questions linear causality and instead suggests circular causality and patterns of reinforcement in thoughts, behaviors, and interactions. This approach is complemented by attachment theory.

Techniques we will use in session include narrative, reframing, role playing, and/or cognitive techniques to help develop the tools you and/or your family need to achieve a greater sense of wellbeing. I am particularly influenced and inspired by the works of Terrance Real, John Gottman, Stan Tatkin, and Richard Schwartz. I have mixed feelings about Dr. Becky.

I have a strong interest in supporting parents and children of all ages. However, I do not work one-on-one with people under 14 years old.

MY mission

My goal is for my clients to find a grounded sense of self that enables them to move securely through their world and relationships.

As more and more English speakers arrive in Valencia, it has become clear that our community lacked therapeutic resources. Many of the people I have met are struggling with the challenges we all face in life: grief, change, parenting, and relationships; but there were few avenues to find support. I wanted to help.

With the goal of helping people to find more happiness and self-fulfillment, as well as to meet the specific challenges of living in a foreign country—and having already studied psychology—I enrolled in a program in systemic family therapy at Centro De Terapia Familiar Fase 2, in Valencia, and opened my practice in 2024.

Shared language and cultural reference points can support the process of therapy by allowing clearer, more nuanced conversations and facilitating the therapeutic relationship. While fluent in Spanish, I conduct sessions only in English.

About me

Originally from Maine, I have lived and worked in Bangkok, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, DC. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Carleton College (Northfield, MN) in psychology, but went on to work as an English teacher, in government relations, and finally as a journalist before moving to Spain in January of 2018. I have a Masters in Journalism from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles), and in 2025 completed the Formación Basica at Centro De Terapia Familiar Fase Dos, here in Valencia.

I live with my husband and two small children. I love literature and mystery novels, baking when it’s not hot out, and going to the beach when it is.
